Yala

Be awed by the magnificent stupas in Tissamaharama, A city according to legend was graced by the lord Buddha. The ancient vihara complex in situlpawwa was once long ago one of the centers of Buddhism. Situlpawwa is filled with historic monuments and ruins that tell tales of long ago kingdoms Sandagiriya viharaya is another discovery in the vicinity. Declared as an archaeological reservation it is definitely worth a peak. Kirinda is the landing point of a legendary queen named Vihara Maha Devi and the kirinda temple is built by King Kavantissa in memory of the queen’s arrival.
